For almost my entire working life I've been that person juggling 6 different side projects at once, going against all conventional wisdom I hear again and again and again.

I'd see people making it work and treat that as validation it can be done, and well!

There's so much I want to do, and it all fulfils different parts of my brain and life and connections with people.

However, I have a very specific goal right now, so I'm going against every instinct I have, turning off that part of my mind, and from now until the end of 2024 I'm going to focus solely on one project. Just one. It causes me physical discomfort just typing that.

No music, no painting, no YouTube, no blog posts.

For the next 3 months, just one project, starting from zero. At the end of the year I'll come back and edit this post, sharing the results and the project.

The update, Feb 2025: the project is Milestones, and oh wow the focus worked. Of course, you never feel like a project is finished, so all I can see now is what I still need to work on, but having those few months of focus allowed the project to come into existence, and have a foundation to build on. This is my big focus for 2025, and I'm so glad I spent the time setting it up properly.

I still completely believe in having multiple concurrent projects and businesses, and I will be reintroducing each one, but when under time-pressure, I think complete attention might be needed for one of them to reach escape velocity in a short period of time.

I'm interested to see what total focus will result in.
